Metridium senile is a common anemone in the northeastern United States and in northern Europe. It inhabits shallow, subtidal water and lives attached to rocks. It is a relatively large species. It does not harbor zooxanthellae. Metridium has abundant short tentacles. Anatomy. External Anatomy.
